You can use Google Takeout to backup your school data to an external hard drive, computer, or a personal Google Drive. All seniors are encouraged to use Google takeout to backup their school Google Drive, as all school Google accounts are disabled after graduation.
Directions
- Go to takeout.google.com.
- Under “CREATE A NEW EXPORT”, select the data that you want to keep. You can save your Gmail, Google Drive, or any other data in the Google services listed.
- After this is done, press “Next Step”.
- Under “Choose file type, frequency & destination”, select the “Delivery Method” drop down menu. You can choose between a download link, adding it to another Google drive, Dropbox, One Drive, or Box.
- Under “Frequency”, select “Export once”.
- Under “File type & size”, select .zip and select a file size. You may want to go with a lower file size such as 2GB or 10GB, as having too large of a file size can cause problems.
- Select “Create Export”.
- After the export is done running, you should receive notification via email depending on the export method that you chose.
